There are a number of different ways in which fleas can be dealt with. Currently we recommend either a 6 monthly program injection or monthly ‘Effipro’ spot on treatment for cats and ‘Prac-tic’ treatment for dogs, along with annual environmental control using ‘RIP Fleas’ household spray. It is important to treat both the environment and cats and dogs as nine out of ten fleas live in the environment, i.e. the carpet!

There are alternative control methods available, especially in the case of cats.  The best control methods vary by individual circumstances including whether there are other cats in the household etc. It is advisable to discuss your situation and requirements with a vet or nurse before starting a flea control program.
